Creating an audience following, managing TV fame and balancing career success as a young actor were explored with actor Michael Fishman in Elon LA's Entertainment PR class.
The opportunity to connect students with industry professionals is a key component of the classroom experience at Elon University Los Angeles. One of the many highlights of this fall semester, so far, has been the participation of thought leaders and high-profile achievers from a variety of industry sectors in all of the courses offered in the program.
Entertainment PR students had a rare opportunity to talk about the impact of fame, the strategies of creating fan awareness and the journey of a young actor’s career when “Roseanne” and “The Connors” star Michael Fishman visited with Professor Mitch Messinger’s class this week. Messinger first met Fishman when he was working on the 2017-18 reboot of “Roseanne” for ABC.
“Michael talked with students candidly about how public relations plays a crucial role for actors, not only in managing their image, but also in sustaining long-term success in an ever-evolving industry,” Messinger said.
These in-class experiences enhance a student’s perspective on course content and provide valuable context to both their academic work and their internships, which is one of the unique core values of the Elon University Los Angeles program.
