Elon math-dancer featured on cover of mathematics journal

Elon Assistant Professor of Mathematics Nancy Scherich was invited to write an article for the "Notices of the American Mathematical Society" on her work in math-dance.

The work of Nancy Scherich, Elon University assistant professor of mathematics, is featured on the cover of the November issue of the “Notices of the American Mathematical Society” (AMS). The Notices of the AMS is the world’s most widely read journal aimed at professional mathematicians.

After winning Science Magazine’s Dance Your PhD competition in 2017, Scherich’s work in math and dance has garnered international acclaim. Over the years, her math-dance videos have been showcased in several film festivals including the Raw Science Film Festival and the Bridges Math-Art Conference Film Festivals. She has been interviewed on television, radio and even featured on the cover of the Wall Street Journal. One of her videos also won an award through the National Science Foundation.
