Elon University's third annual HealthEU Day provided the campus community an opportunity to celebrate Elon's culture of wellness and take advantage of a variety of resources in line with Elon's HealthEU initiative.
Elon University celebrated its third annual Health EU Day on Oct. 22, 2024, part of the university’s comprehensive and integrated wellness program HealthEU.
HealthEU provides access to resources, educational tools and support for all members of the university community while cultivating personal wellness values that can be leveraged throughout their careers. The initiative includes six dimensions of health and wellness: on six dimensions of health and wellness: community, emotional, purpose, financial, physical and social. The HealthEU Center, expected to open in 2026, will also include classrooms, student-faculty research spaces, multiple floors for wellness and fitness activities and the Mark and Kim Tyson Counseling Center.
“HealthEU Day and the HealthEU initiative are vital to promoting a culture of wellness at Elon University,” said Jana Lynn Patterson, associate vice president of Student Life and dean of Student Health and Wellness. “They empower our community to prioritize holistic health providing the tools and support necessary for lifelong well-being. HealthEU Day is designed as a community-wide initiative to highlight the importance of lifelong well-being for all members of our university community- students, faculty and staff.”
Health EU Day kicked off with a special College Coffee on the terrace of Moseley, along with a Campus Community Wellness Fair where students, faculty and staff were invited to talk with a variety of Elon organizations, local companies/groups and even pet some animals. Faculty and staff were also able to learn more about employee benefits through the Faculty/Staff Benefits Fair in the Koury Athletics Center. Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations and the Cone Health Screening Bus were also available.
“The annual HealthEU day is an opportunity for the campus community to spend some time exploring the six dimensions of well-being through opportunities available on campus and in our surrounding communities,” said Anu Räisänen, director of HealthEU Initiatives. “I hope everyone found at least one new thing to incorporate into their life to promote wellness, such as a new resource, a social activity or a piece of knowledge.”
