Elon student Lillian Argabrite ’26 honored for civic engagement

Lillian Argabrite was selected to receive the North Carolina Campus Engagement Community Impact Student Award.

Elon University student Lillian Argabrite ’26 has been selected to receive the Community Impact Student Award by North Carolina Campus Engagement, a statewide network of colleges and universities committed to preparing students for civic and social responsibility.

The Community Impact Student Award honors one student leader at each North Carolina Campus Engagement member school who has demonstrated a deep commitment to community involvement and an ability to inspire their peers to serve. The award recipients were honored during the virtual Engagement Matters Awards Ceremony on Nov. 13.

Argabrite, a junior majoring in biology with a biotechnology and molecular biology concentration, is involved through service, multiple scholarship programs and jobs on campus. In addition to serving as a Change Makers scholar sophomore mentor and participating in the Elon Volunteers! Alternative Break program, Argabrite has also been highly engaged with the Elon Campus Kitchen as the cooking coordinator and student Director.

Through her roles in the Campus Kitchen, Argabrite supports the development of stronger community partner relationships by creating opportunities for Elon students to serve meals they created on campus directly to community partners. She goes above and beyond as director by holding on-site trainings and making sure the entire Campus Kitchen student team meets every partner, not just the partners who they are most familiar with, to make sure they understand that they are working as a unit to serve the greater Alamance County community.

“Lillian has a way of taking the passion that she has for community and making sure that she is bringing everyone with her,” said Abigail Wiatrek, assistant director of the Kernodle Center for Civic Life, who nominated Argabrite for the award. “Her peers admire not only her commitment but the way that it is genuine to who she is in wanting to support her community that supports her right back.”
