The President-elect is suing the Des Moines Register over a pre-election poll he claims was "election interference." Husser, longtime director of the Elon University Poll, provides his perspective on the lawsuit and what it means for future polling.
Jason Husser, assistant provost for academic excellence and integrity, professor of political science and policy studies and longtime director of the Elon University Poll spoke with Queen City News about the new lawsuit filed by President-elect Donald Trump against the Des Moines Register over a poll it released before the election.
Trump is suing the Des Moines Register, and its parent company Gannett, over a poll which predicted Kamala Harris would win Iowa by three to four points. Trump won by 14 points and claims the poll was “fraud” and “election interference,” according to Queen City News.
Husser said he believes the poll was simply incorrect and he hasn’t seen evidence of an intentional error, but Trump may have standing to at least make his case before a judge.
“Trump still had a resounding victory, so it didn’t necessarily cost him the election,” Husser told Queen City News.
