Jonathan Eig will speak about his book “King: A Life" as part of the Elon Speaker Series.
Jonathan Eig, Pulitzer Prize winner and best-selling author of “King: A Life,” will deliver the Elon University Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. in McCrary Theatre in the Center for the Arts.
Eig’s book tells the story of those who knew King personally. He traveled across the country for seven years recording their stories and aiming to learn about the real Martin Luther King Jr.: the complicated one, the flawed one, the radical one, the one we need in today’s bitter divided world.
In addition to the Pulitzer Prize, “King: A Life” was also awarded the New York Historical Society’s 2024 Barbara and David Zalaznick Book Prize, presented annually to the nation’s best work of history or biography. Eig is also the author of six other books. Four of them have been New York Times bestsellers.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Address is part of the Elon Speaker Series which welcomes distinguished thought leaders and change-makers who are actively taking on society’s most pressing issues. Tickets are available at ElonTickets.com. Admission is $15 or free with an Elon ID.
