Dean Baquet, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and former executive editor of The New York Times, will moderate a panel discussion spotlighting the North Carolina journalists who provided essential news coverage during Hurricane Helene and its historic flooding.

An annual fundraiser co-hosted by students in the Department of Performing Arts and Elon University’s Gender & LGBTQIA Center will take place Jan. 15.

Assistant Professor Israel Balderas’ Media Law and Ethics class gathered with Assistant Professor Matthew Young’s Polarization & Civil Discourse class to engage in a thought-provoking discussion exploring contentious topics like book bans and their implications for intellectual freedom, equality and First Amendment protections.
