In her new role, Wolfe will manage a portfolio of alumni, parents and friends affiliated with the school, focusing on strengthening relationships and enhancing philanthropic support.
Katie Wolfe, who joined Elon in 2023 as the university’s assistant director of annual giving, has been named the new director of development for the School of Communications.

In her new role, Wolfe will oversee a portfolio of alumni, parents and friends connected to the school, fostering deeper engagement and increased philanthropic support, particularly at the leadership annual giving level. Her efforts will align the school’s priorities with broader University Advancement initiatives, ensuring continued growth and success.
“We are delighted to welcome Katie to her new role within University Advancement and the School of Communications,” said Jonathan Miller, senior director of development. “As a valued member of the Elon community for several years, Katie brings great experience and a deep understanding of our mission. Her professional background makes her ideally suited to connect with and engage alumni from the School of Communications. We look forward to the positive impact she will have in fostering meaningful relationships and advancing Elon’s philanthropic goals.”
School of Communications Dean Kenn Gaither echoed Miller’s praise, highlighting Wolfe’s significant nonprofit experience, which spans Christian ministry and healthcare philanthropy.
“We are thrilled that Katie will join us in the School of Communications, where she will be able to leverage her expertise and passion for the benefit of our students and our school community,” Gaither said. “And the timing of Katie’s arrival could not be more perfect as we, the school, prepare to celebrate our 25th anniversary this year. Katie will play a key role in helping us bring our community together.”
In her previous role at Elon, Wolfe led various Annual Giving volunteer groups including Elon Day Champions, peer agents and reunions. However, this was not her first experience with Elon. Wolfe first connected with the university through her work with a campus ministry from 2017 to 2020. During that time, her involvement with students and the Truitt Center sparked a deep love for the university and its community.
