Elon University faculty and staff are invited to interactive workshops led by the Division of Inclusive Excellence designed to encourage personal and group reflection on the complexities of bias and the ways in which it can hinder a sense of belonging on campus for all people.

Elon University faculty and staff are invited to upcoming workshops hosted by the Division of Inclusive Excellence aimed at fostering personal growth and building mindfulness of ways certain actions can either help or hinder a sense of belonging on campus.

Inclusive Community Conversations is a monthly dialogue series that explores pressing topics related to identity, implicit bias, inclusion and more. Upcoming workshops include:

  • Practicing Courageous Conversations in Controversial Times | Wednesday, March 26 | Belk Pavilion 208 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. | Registration required
  • Psychological Safety: Why It Matters in Inclusive Workplaces | Wednesday, April 9 | Belk Pavilion 208 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. | Registration required
  • Environmental Justice and Inclusion (in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability) | Wednesday, April 30 | Belk Pavilion 208 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. | Registration required

Guided by using the World Café Model, participants take part in small-group dialogues that foster deep reflection and a broader appreciation of diverse views. During each session, participants rotate between groups, sharing perspectives and expanding on the ideas of others.

The session will conclude with a collaborative summary of key themes and follow-up resources to encourage ongoing reflection and action beyond the discussion.

“Engaging in dialogue allows us to listen, reflect and strategize action steps to move towards Elon’s vision for Inclusive Excellence,” said Carla Fullwood, director of inclusive excellence education and development at Elon University.
