Four of Elon University’s prominent Los Angeles-based alumni gathered with current Elon University Los Angeles students on Wednesday evening for an inspiring conversation about their individual career journeys thus far, the state of the industry’s rapidly changing landscape, how those shifts have impacted both their professional and personal lives, and what that shift means for students after their graduation.

On hand for this spring semester’s panel, moderated by Brad Lemack, director, Elon University Los Angeles, were Eric Hernandez ’16, an award-winning director and producer, who also serves on the board of the Elon alumni association’s Los Angeles Chapter. Joining Hernandez were Tommy Mackey ’18, who works in production at Disney Television Animation, Patrick McCabe ’10, a reality TV showrunner and Candra Nazzaro ’05, whose career is in development, casting and producing unscripted television. Macy Mills, Elon LA program assistant, produced the event.

Among the many words of wisdom shared by the alumni participants, all of the panelists agreed that multi-hyphenates are calling the shots in the current environment. The ability for students to be both talented and skilled in a variety of areas is the key to building a prolific and successful professional career in any genre of entertainment.
