MGT 4300 seminar students have earned an industry certification from the Project Management Institute.
Sixteen project management majors at Elon University enrolled in the spring 2025 semester MGT 4300 Seminar in Project Management capstone course recently earned their Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential.
The Project Management Seminar is the final course in the project management major offered by the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. For students and recent graduates, obtaining CAPM certification validates their knowledge of project management fundamentals and methodologies, enhances their academic qualifications and sets them apart in a competitive job market. It signifies a dedication to mastering essential project management concepts and demonstrates readiness to contribute effectively to project teams.
According to PMI.org, the newly updated, three-hour, 150-question CAPM certification exam “tests aptitude on project management fundamentals and core concepts (including) agile frameworks/methodologies, business analysis frameworks, and predictive plan-based methodologies.”
“The CAPM certification allows our students to stand out as aspiring project managers and hiring organizations can be assured that our graduates understand the fundamentals of project work,” said Professor of Management Matt Valle, who teaches the course. “This certification is an important milestone in their careers. The pass rate on the CAPM exam, based on industry estimates and feedback from successful candidates, is generally considered to be around 70%. I am very proud of the hard work that the students put into preparing for this exam.”
