What book is on your nightstand?
I’ve been reading “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance” by Angela Duckworth. It’s a fascinating exploration of what it takes to succeed (spoiler: talent alone isn’t enough), emphasizing the importance of persistence and resilience. This book also inspired a recent research project I started with an Elon student about business resilience and success.
What is your favorite phone app?
Canva. It’s an incredibly user-friendly design tool that I use to create everything from social media graphics to presentations. The app’s integration with features, like Magic Resize and Background Remover, significantly enhances productivity and creativity. I often use it to design materials for my classes.
If you could invite someone from history to dinner, who would it be?
It would have to be Leonardo da Vinci. His incredible curiosity and multifaceted genius have always fascinated me. Not only was he a master artist, but his contributions to science, engineering and anatomy were revolutionary. I would love to discuss his creative process, his observations about the world, how he seamlessly blended art and science and how he managed to master so many disciplines simultaneously.
What is your favorite place on campus?
The Chandler Fountain in front of the Ernest A. Koury Sr. Business Center, where my office is located. The sound of the water, combined with the beautifully landscaped surroundings, creates a serene and calming atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to unwind, reflect or even catch up on some reading.
