Anne Bolin, professor of anthropology, and Kim Jones, assistant professor of anthropology, participated in the Annual Meetings of the Society for Applied Anthropology March 28-April 2 in Vancouver.
Bolin organized, chaired and presented a symposium titled “Issues in Teaching Anthropology: Applied Anthropology and the Classroom Part 1.” Jones participated in the symposium and presented a paper titled “Pedagogic Reciprocity: Exchanges Between the Classroom and the Field.” Bolin’s paper for the symposium was titled “Educating a ‘Wadjella’ (Non-Aboriginal Persons) Mob: Spanning Cultural Chasms in Study Abroad.”
Bolin also gave a presentation for a roundtable discussion on the topic “The Pedagogy and Politics of Teaching Anthropology of Sex.” Bolin’s presentation was titled “Southern Discomfort: Teaching Sex in the South.”
