Matthew Valle, associate professor of business administration, has been notified that his manuscript, “A Model of Engaged Learning for the 21st Century,” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Academic Administration in Higher Education.
This article is a continuation of Valle’s research into the Business Academy concept that he proposed in the late 90’s. The Business Academy is “…a structured simulation that engages students and faculty in an ongoing enterprise that combines knowledge acquisition with skill building and character development…to educate and train business students for their future professional responsibilities.” This article explores the operation of the Business Academy, to include a discussion of “class” work, student activities, faculty composition and duties, and the integrated simulation that forms the heart of academy operations.
