Jeff Stein, assistant dean of students, served as a consultant and presented sessions at Winthrop University’s first Faculty Academic Service-Learning Institute Wednesday, May 10. Stein presented four sessions for the 30 faculty members who participated in the workshop, including:
- “Service-Learning on the Verge,” which dealt with Stein’s English 255 course titled Literature on the Verge
- “Teaching on the Verge: Keeping Learning Central in Service-Learning Courses”
- “Reflection: Maximizing Learning from Experiences”
- “Service-Learning Course Management and Construction”
The institute is part of an initiative by Winthrop faculty to gather regularly to discuss Academic Service-Learning and improve the university’s program in terms of faculty development and course offerings for students.
