Helms wins professional awards

Glenn Helms, professor of accounting, has been recognized for his work as a discussion leader. Helms received the American Institute of CPAs Outstanding Discussion Leader Award at a recent dinner. Recipients of this award must teach four different courses within the AICPA catalog, teach in four different states, teach at least 10 days per CPE year and be in the upper 3 to 5 percent for evaluations. Only eight discussion leaders received this award.

Helms will also receive the N.C. Association of CPAs Outstanding Discussion Leader Award. The honor is given in recognition of excellence and outstanding commitment to the association’s Continuing Professional Education Program.

In 2005, Helms received the association’s Don Farmer Award, given in recognition of his 2004 discussion leader ratings in areas of knowledge and skill.
