Two new creativity primers by Anthony Weston have just been published by Oxford University Press. “Creativity for Critical Thinkers” and “Creative Problem-Solving in Ethics” both offer an expansive and challenging toolbox of creative methods — brainstorming, lateral thinking, exotic associations, reframing probems, and many more — and apply them to a wide range of problems, from scientific thinking to product design, from social problems to the most pressing ethical issues, and from “creative good citizenship” and to, well, changing the world. Both books have been extensively classroom- and workshop-tested, at Elon and elsewhere, and are directed back to the classroom but work as stand-alone general readers as well.
