Heidi White, assistant director of study abroad, recently co-presented at the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Region 7 Conference. Her presentation was titled “Dim Sum, Tai Chi, Guanxi: Welcome to China.” It introduced some basics of Chinese culture and addressed issues of cultural adjustment for students studying abroad in China and Chinese students studying at U.S. institutions.
White is also currently working on a national committee charged with updating and re-vamping a professional development curriculum titled “Beyond Advising: Management Basics for International Educators” The new curriculum will be a part of the professional development workshops at the 2007 Annual NAFSA Conference.
