Elon College creates communications advisory board

ELON COLLEGE – Elon College’s first undergraduate advisory board will hold its first meeting Feb. 18-19 to help guide the rapidly growing journalism and communications department.

The board’s 17 members are senior practitioners in their fields. Five members work in the broadcast industry, four in journalism, and eight are in public relations.

The department’s faculty believes board members will help facilitate its thinking about programming, professional expectations, resource opportunities and interaction with students. The department currently serves more than 550 majors.

The board will review the curriculum and develop a professional, academic partnership with the faculty. Its members will work with students on preparing for internships and careers in journalism communications. They also will be invited to serve as guest lecturers and speakers.
