Six new brick signage walls will be constructed this summer to enhance the entrance gateways to the Elon University campus. The walls will be visible to motorists approaching the campus on Williamson Avenue from the north and south, on Haggard Avenue from the east and west, and on O’Kelly Avenue from the north.
This spring, Elon will be changing signage across campus as part of the transition from Elon College to Elon University. The name change officially takes place June 1. These formal entrances will provide a more clear delineation of the campus boundaries and are an important element in creating a good first impression for visitors to campus.
The largest walls will be built at the intersections of Williamson Avenue and Haggard and Lebanon Avenues. Smaller wall segments will be built on Williamson Avenue near the entrance to Rhodes Stadium, on O’Kelly Avenue near the Loy Center and on Haggard Avenue at Oak Street, adjacent to the Office of Human Resources.
The project will also include new landscaping to frame the walls.
