Dr. Sheila Dauer, director of Amnesty International U.S.A.’s women’s human rights program, will deliver a lecture titled “State-Sponsored and Private Actor Violence” at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 29 at the Elon Community Church. The lecture, sponsored by the General Studies program, is free and open to the public.
Dauer has been on the Amnesty International staff since 1979. During that time, she has developed several pivotal programs. She has been instrumental in the growth of Amnesty’s volunteer country experts program and also organized efforts to train workers in this program.
Dauer is a charter member of Amnesty’s Taskforce on Women’s Human Rights. In 1991, she prepared “Women in the Front Line,” Amnesty’s first international report on women’s human rights.
