Elon faculty members to hold discussion on families

ELON COLLEGE, N.C. – Faculty members of the social science division at Elon College will conclude their three-part discussion on issues confronting American families during a forum at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday April 12 in Yeager Recital Hall of the Faith Rockefeller Model Center for the Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

The forum will examine “Families, Communities and Public Policy.” Panelists are Chalmers Brumbaugh, professor of political science, Joan Gundersen, dean of social sciences and Jim Brown, assistant professor of history and moderator of the forum. They will discuss the American family in a historical perspective and the impact of public policy on the family unit.

Earlier forums focused on the future of marriage, and evaluated America as a place to raise a child. The forums are designed to build a bridge to the community by showing how social scientists are trying to solve human problems.
