Elon College names new vice president for institutional advancement

ELON COLLEGE – Dean Bruno, vice president for university advancement at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., has been named vice president for institutional advancement at Elon College.

Bruno was selected following a nationwide search. He will begin leading Elon’s institutional advancement office, which includes the alumni and parent relations and development divisions, on June 1.

“Elon College is fortunate to be able to attract such a dynamic and
seasoned professional to lead the Institutional Advancement efforts.
Dean Bruno’s leadership will be key to the successful completion of the
Campaign for the Elon Vision and our future fund-raising efforts,” said Elon College President Leo M. Lambert.

Bruno received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Cornell University and was awarded a Mary C. Babcock Fellowship at Oxford University. In 1992, he received an MBA from Charles Babcock Graduate School of Management at Wake Forest University.

Bruno has had development experience at Cornell University, Arizona State University and California Polytechnic University at San Luis Obispo. He has extensive experience in the areas of major gifts and planned giving.

At Elon, Bruno’s focus will be on completing the Campaign for the Elon Vision, the college’s strategic plan for strengthening the academic programs, increasing the endowment and providing additional facilities. The five-year campaign, which was announced in November 1997, has raised about $34.5 million of its $40 million.
