Elon’s annual festival of holiday lights, sponsored by the chaplain’s office will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 on Scott Plaza. A dazzling display of luminaries will line the walkways approaching the plaza and Fonville Fountain. The public is invited to join Elon students, faculty and staff for hot chocolate, Christmas carols and the holiday spirit.
Immediately after the holiday celebration, at 7:30 p.m., the 82nd Airborne Chorus will perform a free concert in Whitley Auditorium. The chorus is composed of troopers from every unit of the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. Since its formation in 1967, the chorus has traveled the world, performing for troops in Grenada and Saudi Arabia, as well as governors and military dignitaries. The chorus has performed for special events and dignitaries, such as the Coca-Cola 600 auto race, the Jerry Lewis Telethon and a 1991 tribute to Bob Hope.
