Noted ethnobotanist Cox to speak Nov. 11

Ethnobotanist Paul Cox will speak to at 9:20 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. His presentation is free and open to the public.

Cox is currently director of the National Tropical Botanical Garden, which is based in Hawaii.
Cox was a convocation speaker in the fall of 1998 at Elon, and also delivered a Voices of Discovery lecture that same semester. He has worked extensively in Samoa trying to save the Samoan rainforest, where he discovered a plant that is now used in the treatment of breast cancer. His interest in Samoa goes beyond botany and his book “Nafanua” is about his experiences in Samoa.
