Elan to perform Nov. 16

Elon University’s vocal jazz ensemble, Élan, under the direction of Professor Stephen A. Futrell, will offer an eclectic a cappella performance at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16 in Whitley Auditorium on campus.

The ensemble will perform classic street corner doo-wopp, South African isacathamiya and historically significant African-American male gospel pieces. The concert will feature the music of J.S. Bach, Bobby McFerrin, and groups such as Crosby, Stills and Nash, Yes, and Loggins and Messina. A classic “unplugged” rock piece with acoustic guitar will also be performed, with UNCG professor of guitar Mark Mazzatenta appearing as a special guest.

The performance is open to the public; no tickets are required.
