Music faculty members Linda Cykert and Chip Newton will perform classical favorites on flute and guitar during a concert at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 25 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Center for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public.
Cykert is a member of Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with the Roanoke, Winston-Salem, and North Carolina Symphonies. She won the National Flute Association’s Solo master class Competition in 1989 and won positions in the 1993-1996 NFA Professional Flute Choirs. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, where she received named the 1987 Presser Scholar and won induction into the honorary music society, Pi Kappa Lambda.
Guitarist Chip Newton received a bachelor’s degree in music from Concord College, Athens, W.Va. and earned a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Active in the classical and jazz fields, he often performs in the Triad and has played in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Mexico and throughout the United States.
