The 2005 edition of Kaplan Publishing’s guide to the “331 Most Interesting Colleges” includes a profile of Elon University, the third year in a row that Elon has been included in the nationally distributed publication.
The guide says Elon specializes in “experiential education and a supportive community on a gorgeous campus.”
The guide notes that “research facilities at Elon are high quality and well used,” with special recognition for equipment at McMichael Science Center and Belk Library.
Students and high school guidance counselors quoted in the guide praise Elon’s “hands-on approach to learning” and “innovative teaching methods.” A Florida counselor is quoted as saying Elon “has a strong atmosphere and good faculty-student interaction.”
The Kaplan guide chooses schools based on quality academic programs and unique educational opportunities. Current students, recent graduates, high school counselors and college officials were surveyed to aid in the selection process.
