Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program at Elon, Jan. 13

Elon’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program will be held at noon, Thursday, Jan. 13 in Whitley Auditorium on campus. The program is free and open to the public.

William Haley will deliver the King commemorative address. Active as a race relations agent for more than 30 years, Haley is the son of Alex Haley, author of the famous book “Roots.” He will discuss how King’s efforts have enabled countless people to grow as individuals and members of a society that values its moral compass.

The program will include a performance by the Elon University Gospel Choir and the announcement of the winner of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Essay Contest.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program is sponsored by the Multicultural Affairs Council, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Liberal Arts Forum.
