Weston named director of executive education

Bob Weston has been named director of executive education in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business at Elon University. Weston will be responsible for expansion and development of the Elon Executive Education program, which will help executives enhance their leadership skills, encourage strategic thinking and promote sound management principles.

Weston has more than 20 years of management experience with the sales and marketing divisions of several technology firms. He joined Elon after working as executive director for sales, marketing and customer service for Starta Development, Inc. in Raleigh, N.C. He has also served as a consultant to companies across the nation, specializing in the evaluation and implementation of business processes and management technologies.

A native of Burlington, N.C., Weston earned bachelor’s degrees in business management and economics from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, and an MBA from Elon’s Love School of Business.

Elon has partnered with Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) to establish an executive education program. Approximately 70 LabCorp executives participated in a pilot program in 2004 and additional programs are scheduled for 2005. A wing in Elon’s new Ernest A. Koury, Sr. Business Center, scheduled to open in fall 2006, will contain the LabCorp Executive Education Suite.

Elon Executive Education will also host a series of workshops for nonprofit organization leaders in Alamance County beginning March 31. The sessions will focus on specific leadership aspects unique to the nonprofit sector and discuss ways to improve strategy and delivery of services.
