Physicist to discuss “Crazy Ideas in Science,” Sept. 29

Robert Ehrlich, professor of physics at George Mason University an author of “Nine Crazy Ideas in Science: A Few Might Even Be True,” and various other books, will discuss the various scientific ideas making news today and help listeners make informed decisions about them during a presentation at 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 29 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. Sponsored by the physics department, Ehrlich’s presentation is free and open to the public.

Ehrlich will also discuss how crazy ideas can sometimes lead to great scientific advances, and will examine issues such as global warming, the dangers of cholesterol and the effectiveness of placebo. He has also written “Eight Preposterous Propositions” and “Why Toast Lands Jelly-Side Down.”
