Chris Wilson, professor of religious studies, will present the third annual Distinguished Scholar Award Lecture at 7 p.m., Monday, April 21 in Yeager Recital Hall, located in the Center for the Arts.
Wilson’s lecture is titled “Jesus and the Pleasures,” and is based on his book by the same title which will be published by Augsburg Fortress Press in September. The book is intended for general audiences and provides a different viewpoint of the life of Jesus from the predominant views in New Testament scholarship.
The idea for Wilson’s book came from an Elon student’s SURF presentation in 1997. Jena Tenley is pursuing a master’s degree in theological studies at Emory University and plans to pursue a doctorate in religious studies. She will attend Wilson’s lecture.
A reception is planned in the Isabella Cannon Room following the lecture; faculty and staff are invited to attend.
