Elon University’s civic journalism project, led by Dr. David Loomis and a group of Elon School of Communications students, will host a forum at 7:30 p.m. April 29 in the Paramount Theater in downtown Burlington.
Students will make presentations reflecting the information they have gathered about issues of importance to the Alamance County Latino community, and a panel of representatives from Latino, business, public school, non-profit and other area groups will discuss the issues raised by the students’ reporting. This discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer period featuring the audience and panelists.
The event is being promoted by Elon University’s Enterprise Academy. The local daily newspaper, the Burlington Times-News, has been a partner in this civic journalism initiative, which is being funded by Elon University and Project Pericles, which encourages civic engagement.
