Media/PR Internship

If you’re considering a career in advertising, you have options beyond copy writing and design. Media planning/buying and public relations are two often unsung disciplines in the agency business, and they are our core business at In-house Media.

Now in its fifth year, In-house Media is a small media buying and public relations agency in Greensboro, N.C. Our clients include furniture manufacturers and retailers, a hospital, a university, one of the state’s leading workers’ compensation law firms and the North Carolina division offices of a national homebuilder.

In-House Media can provide real job experience in the fields of media planning and buying and public relations. We work one-on-one with television and radio stations, newspapers, magazines, out-of-home companies, and direct mail brokers.

Qualified candidates for the media buying internship must know their way around a spreadsheet, must love – or at least enjoy – math and/or statistics and be motivated, responsible and detail-oriented. Media interns would handle a variety of duties including administrative work, data entry, media planning and buying.

PR interns will have the opportunity to work on press releases and pitch stories to reporters, write and edit Web copy, ghostwrite correspondence for corporate clients, interview sources for press releases and potentially contribute to a book project. In-house Media’s largest PR client is Fashion Licensing of America, the New York-based licensing agent for The Ernest Hemingway Collection.

Two positions are available. A small stipend will be awarded to each intern at the completion of the internship. Final candidates will be contacted directly for an interview.

Please send a resume and cover letter that will offer a glimmer of your personality and your career goals to kmaier@clearwire.net. PR candidates should send a writing sample, preferably a news article or press release written for class. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors are invited to apply.
