Cruise into week-long summer workshop

Ahoy, Faculty!

Elon’s Instructional Technologies departments* invite you to join us for one of three cruises (workshops) this summer. While these one- and two-week journeys take place on campus, not the high seas, you’ll definitely expand your horizons in any of them. Full- or part-time faculty who are under contract to the university are eligible to attend any of these challenging and fun-filled workshops. Travel opportunities are as follows:

Teaching with Technology: This 5-day journey explores the wide variety of ways that technology can enhance your teaching. Topics include course planning, classroom presentations, facilitating discussions and more. We’ll set sail Monday, June 2 and return to port Friday, June 6.

Developing multimedia resources: A 10-day trip in which participants will acquire the skills necessary to produce a multimedia CD to augment one of their courses. The first week of this cruise takes place June 2-6, while the second leg of the journey is scheduled for July 21-25.

Charting a new course with Blackboard: If you have little or no experience with Blackboard, join us on this 5-day voyage Aug. 4-8. You’ll learn how easy it is to develop a substantive Web-based course site to accompany your face-to-face teaching. During on-board activities, each passenger will create a Blackboard site for one of his/her courses.

Each voyage includes daily luncheons and special shipboard contests and activities. All cruise passengers will engage in hands-on activities and develop materials that will be useful in their teaching. Faculty will receive a stipend for completing the workshop of their choice.
