Carol Magee is the Woodrow Wilson Postdoctoral Fellow at Elon this year. In discussing the depiction of Ndebele and Maasai peoples in the 1996 and 1997 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues, she explores issues of race and identity and the role of photography in these discourses.
