In an effort to make an Elon education
available to more gifted young scholars, Ikey Tarlton Little
’59 has donated $5,000 to the University to endow the
Class of 1959 Golden Anniversary 2009 Scholarship Fund. She
hopes that other members of the Class of 1959 will contribute
to the fund in honor of their induction into the Golden
Alumni Association at Homecoming 2009.
To encourage her classmates to donate to the fund, Little
will match all outright gifts (excluding planned gifts) to
the scholarship up to $25,000. The scholarship will be fully
endowed, and funds awarded to students, once the total
reaches $25,000. The scholarship will be awarded annually to
students based on financial need and/or merit.
“Elon gave me my education and a good start on my life
and careers,” says Little. “Students are getting
that close, personal attention that is so important. Elon has
earned my support.”
Little has also contributed more than $28,000 to the Ikey
Tarlton Little Endowed Scholarship, which assists students
from North Carolina’s Anson and Union counties and/or
students pursuing a degree in theatre arts.
