Preventing Plagiarism – Friday, September 28, 12:15-2:00, in Belk Pavilion 201.
Concerned about student plagiarism? Before you turn to Blackboard’s SafeAssign to detect plagiarism in students’ final products, join us to discuss strategies for preventing plagiarism. We’ll examine how faculty can build on the foundation established in English 110: College Writing to help students learn how to make ethical choices about source use in disciplinary writing. Workshop activities will focus on instructional strategies, assignment design, and shared responsibilities of students and faculty. Participants also will discuss the Council of Writing Program Administrators’ Statement on Defining and Avoiding Plagiarism. This session will be facilitated by Jessie Moore (College Writing/English 110 Coordinator) and Paula Rosinski (Writing Center Director).
