The story describes the history of the controversial French film “Le Corbeau,” which was filmed in France in 1943 during the German occupation of World War II. Many French actors refused to work for the German-controlled company which made the film, and “Le Corbeau” was viewed as an outrage by French film critics and citizens.
The story draws extensive quotes from Lanzoni’s recent book “French Cinema: From Its Beginnings to the Present.”
