This weekend, Lynn R. Huber, assistant professor of religious studies, will be presenting a paper on Revelation and violence for a panel she co-organized for the Society of Biblical Literature’s annual meeting, which is being held in San Diego, Calif.
Huber’s paper examines how medieval visionaries read Revelation’s violent imagery as a way of exploring strategies for contemporary interpretations of biblical violence.
In addition, Huber will be presenting as part of a panel dedicated to reviewing her recent book, “Like a Bride Adorned: Reading Metaphor in John’s Apocalypse,” and to employing the interpretive method it outlines. Participants on the panel include commentators on Revelation and scholars of rhetorical biblical criticism and cognitive linguistics.
