Summer construction update

A major residence hall air conditioning project and several other renovation and construction jobs are on schedule and will be complete when freshmen arrive on campus Friday, Aug. 22. Details...

Ground will be broken in August for the third pavilion in the Academic Village, which will house the political science department and a new lab for the Elon University Poll. The pavilion will be located north of the Isabella Cannon International Studies Pavilion on the west side of the Academic Village complex. The building will be completed in time for the fall 2004 term. The construction contract was recently awarded to H.M. Kern Corporation of Greensboro, N.C.

Work is almost complete on installation of central air conditioning systems in Sloan, West and Virginia residence halls. The system was put online and tested earlier this week in Sloan and Virginia, while the system in West will be operational by Friday, Aug. 1. Individual room air conditioners have been installed in Story Center (Chandler, Colclough and Maynard Halls) and are operational.

Other campus construction projects this summer include a renovation of the biology office suite in the McMichael Science Center, the installation of glass partitions in Harden dining hall, relocation and expansion of SGA offices in Moseley Center, and expansion of the Kernodle Center for Service Learning. All of those projects have been completed.
