Campus vigil for Kyle Fleischmann held Dec. 9

About 75 Elon students gathered in front of Moseley Center Dec. 9 for a candlelight vigil to keep missing alumnus Kyle Fleischmann in the forefront of public consciousness. The Elon service coincided with similar gatherings in Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, Pinehurst and Wilkesboro. Details...

The service was led by Elon Chaplain Richard McBride. Those who gathered held candles and said prayers for Fleischmann, a 2006 Elon graduate who disappeared in the early hours of Nov. 9 after leaving a bar in downtown Charlotte.

Fleischmann’s parents, brother and sister, grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins signed a poster that was displayed at the vigil, thanking Elon for its efforts to help find Kyle.

Blue wristbands will be sold in Moseley Center Dec. 10 and 11 as part of a fundraising effort for the Kyle Fleischmann Foundation.

Following the candlelight vigil, those in attendance gathered for private moments of sharing in The Zone, talking about Kyle and offering support to each other.

Fleischmann, 24, was a business administration management student atElon and served as an officer in the Kappa Alpha Order fraternitybefore graduating in 2006. He also volunteered time during his studiesto assist Special Olympics, the Boys & Girls Club and Safe Rides.

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to hisreturn. Elon University leaders are asking students and alumni to keepthe Fleischmann family in their thoughts.

Kyle was last seen leaving the Buckhead Saloon at the corner of 5th St.and College St. at 02:20 AM on November 9, 2007.  Kyle was wearing adark colored shirt and blue jeans.

The cell phone activity on Kyle’s phone is in the uptown area andmainly in the 1st Ward area. The activity on the cell phone concludesaround 04:00 AM.
