Attention ALL students: Be sure to read the following information from Residence Life BEFORE you come to campus:
Card Access: To enhance safety, service and convenience, swipe card readers have been installed on the main entry doors of the following residence halls: Smith, Carolina, West, Virginia, Sloan, Staley, Moffitt and Academic Village (residential area only). Residents of these halls can just swipe their Phoenix Cards through the reader on the main entrances to gain access to the building after 7 p.m.
Halls will be locked from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., seven days a week (except Staley, Moffitt, West, Carolina and Academic Village, which are locked 24 hours due to student preferences).
Guests should always be accompanied by a resident.
Your Phoenix Card has already been programmed to open the door of your residence hall.
If you lose your card, go to the Phoenix Card Office for a replacement. If you lose your card after normal business hours, you can go to University Security and Police to get a temporary card.
Microfridges: Microfridge availability is limited; get yours now while supplies last. Microfridges, which combine a refrigerator and microwave in one unit, rent for $160 per year (cost can be split between roommates) and are the only microwaves allowed (due to electrical concerns, individual free-standing microwaves are not permitted in the residence halls; the unique design of Microfridges minimizes electrical output). You can print an order form off the Web site at the URL below. You can either mail it with a check to Residence Life (2980 CB, Elon, NC, 27244) or you fax it to 336-278-7300 and mail a check separately.
Arrival Times: The following times are established for students to arrive on campus:
New students: August 22 after 8 a.m.
New students, if you are traveling from a distance within four hours of Elon on August 22, we recommend you arrive after 10 a.m. to avoid traffic problems and long lines and assist those coming from longer distances.
Returning students: August 23 after 8 a.m.
Returning students living in the West Area, in order to avoid traffic and move-in delays, we strongly encourage you to arrive after Opening Convocation, which ends at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23.
If you arrive after 6 p.m. on the designated days, please go to the area office and page a staff member for assistance. Late Check-in will take place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Area Offices listed below.
