Elon sophomore earns spot on U.S. jumproping team

An Elon sophomore will compete in the upcoming World Rope Skipping Championships after making the U.S. National Jump Rope Team in late January trials in Ohio.

John Schimmelfing travels in late July to Capetown, South Africa, where he and his sister – Anna Schimmelfing ’07 – compete in the international event. John Schimmelfing also qualified for the 2004 U.S. National Team and competed in Tallebudgera, Australia. Anna graduated with a degree in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.

In April 2007, he and six teammates from the Chapel Hill-based SkipSations! team performed for a week in Istanbul at the Turkish government’s Celebration of Children.
