Greensboro attorney Seth Cohen will talk about defending clients in civil liberties cases that have made headlines in recent years during a program at noon, Wednesday, March 19 in room 206 at the law school. The program is sponsored by the ACLU Chapter of Elon Law; free pizza and drinks will be provided, and everyone is invited to attend.
Cohen, a partner in the firm of Smith James Rowlett & Cohen, LLP, has been involved with a number of prominent cases, including a Muslim woman who refused to take an oath on the Bible in court; the Rhino Times and its battle with the KKK; a Greensboro police officer accused of racial profiling; and a high school student suspended for wearing a confederate flag on her shirt.
Cohen earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia. He has served as general counsel with the ACLU of North Carolina. His practice areas include civil litigation; state and federal criminal defense; civil and constitutional rights; labor and employment law and capital litigation.
