Elon students Daniel Harwell and James Glenos are blogging from Denver this week about their experiences at the Democratic National Convention.
The two men have joined with six fellow Elon students and political science professor Chalmers Brumbaugh to get an insider’s view of the convention as part of a joint program with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars.
Caroline DeLaney, Erin Moffet, McKenzie Young, Renee Zale, Taylor Foshee and Andy Milne are also taking part in the program. After attending seminars in mid August to better understand the political process and the role of national conventions in presidential selection, students will complete field work volunteer assignments during the convention.
The group will also be posting video interviews and other news packages about the convention to Campus Voices, a Web site hosted by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics.

Because of Elon’s academic calendar, a similar experience with the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., is not possible this fall. Elon students have attended both conventions in prior years.
