Would you like to be a mentor to a 5th grade girl?

Alamance – Girls in Motion is looking for college women interested in volunteering to be mentors to 10 and 11 year old girls from the community.

Alamance-Girls in Motion is an 8 week program offering exercise, education and mentorship to interested girls in the community in an effort to increase self-esteem and improve body image.

The program will meet Wednesday afternoons at the Koury Athletic Center from 3:30-5 p.m. from Sept. 24 – Nov. 12. Program sessions include opening games, introduction of the day’s topic, exercise and discussion in mentor/mentee pairs, wrap up and healthy snack.

Mentors will be trained in mentorship techniques and the program materials (tentative date: Sept. 10) and have access to other materials via Blackboard. If you are interested in learning more or would like to volunteer to be a mentor, please contact Liz Bailey at x5862. Thanks!
