An Elon University tradition returned this week when Brown & Co., a longtime favorite pub and grill, reopened on North Williamson Avenue with a menu that includes entrees from the tavern restaurant and the most popular items from its predecessor, Cantina Roble, which once occupied the same space.
The Elon-owned restaurant welcomed patrons for the first time on Aug. 25 and has seen a steady stream of business – even before the arrival of students for the fall semester. With extended hours on Thursday and Friday nights, staying open until 4 a.m. for students, officials with ARAMARK food services said they believe the concept will be a hit.
“We’ve satisfied the needs of current students and created a new bit of nostalgia for the local community and alumni who were here seven years ago when Brown & Co. closed its doors,” said Jeff Gazda, the resident district manager for ARAMARK.
ARAMARK kept the most popular items from its Cantina menu, like Wild Bill’s Blackened Chicken Pasta, the Buffalo Chicken Salad and the Killer Cookie. Menu items suggested by alumni from the old Brown & Co. menu include the rib eye sandwich, a variety of club sandwiches and the Elon burger.
A grand opening is planned for Sept. 8, 2008.
