A new book co-edited by Rebecca "Toddie" Peters was the subject of a story in the Sept. 6 edition of the Greensboro News & Record. The book, "To Do Justice: A Guide for Progressive Churches," will be used by 18 local churches as a guide for a 13-week study on social justice issues.
The book has received early praise from the academic and theological community.
Peter Paris of Princeton Theological Seminary says: “This is amuch-needed book on a wide range of social justice issues. It is thekind of book I have been seeking for a long time.”
The study groups starting Monday will include a pastor and severalmembers of each church, who have agreed to go back to their largercongregations for further study — and hopefully, figure out what’s nextfor them, Peters says. But those who pick up the book and read it ontheir own will also, she hopes, find a revelation.
“My hope and belief as an ethicist and a person of faith is if youget people together and engage them … people will want to dosomething,” Peters says.
