Elon University’s Lambda Chi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi has achieved “Superior Chapter” status and was recognized by the national organization this summer as the “Most Improved Chapter” for 2008.
The group was honored for its outstanding achievements in academics, professionalism, and leadership at the national meeting held this summer in Anaheim, Calif.
Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for accounting, finance and information systems students and professionals with more than 260 chapters on college and university campuses nationwide. The new “Superior Chapter” status is the highest level attainable by a group.
The national office installed the Elon chapter in 2005 and was recognized as a Distinguished Chapter during its first year on campus.
Chapter officers Allison Ellmers (president), Christina Kmetz (vice president), Anne Niemiec (secretary), and Kathleen Chenot (treasurer), along with faculty advisers Linda Poulson and Patty Cox, worked with the accounting faculty and the accounting advisory board during the previous academic year to develop a schedule of professional activities to achieve the superior status.
